Product DescriptionThe ROCKSTEAD 涅槃 NEHAN was developed according to a design by renowned Japanese knifemaker Koji Hara. This model was already in circulation between 2007 and 2010, but the new version is fundamentally different in terms of its technical execution. In the 涅槃 NEHAN, ROCKSTEAD brings together all the experience it has gathered over the years in the production of a high-quality folding knife and supplements this with fresh and innovative technologies. This is now the fourth model for which titanium has been used as a material for the construction of the handle. The button-lock system of the 涅槃 NEHAN, which was developed by ROCKSTEAD, has already proven itself in the 秀 SHU and the 良 RYO, and the design of the grip plate is also particularly impressive, with the application of the development process already used in the 鈍 DON. The production materials are also extraordinary: With the 涅槃 NEHAN (MB) artificial black marble is used, whilst with the 涅槃 NEHAN (ER) it is ebonite, which is used most prominently in high-quality fountain pens, creating a surface that is particularly pleasing to the touch. The design of the handle was inspired by the folds of a Japanese kimono, whilst the thumb pin was designed in the shape of a flower. These external design features are by no means the only elements that reflect the love of detail and the pursuit of perfection, however. The real innovation of the 涅槃 NEHAN is hidden within it and consists of the way in which the two halves of the handle are joined together. This construction was developed by ROCKSTEAD and means no externally visible screws are required as these are contained entirely within the handle. Hence nothing can affect the harmony of the external image. Also new is the design of the knife sheath. Whilst the first version of the 涅槃 NEHAN still incorporated a belt loop, the new one has a practical belt clip. The "NEHAN" was designed as a gentleman's knife and is manufactured exclusively using ZDP-189 blade steel. The unique ROCKSTEAD mirror polish and the HONZUKURI blade geometry for maximum performance are a matter of course for this model.
